About The Role & Team

The Activation team at Amplitude is building a leading insights-driven activation platform that empowers businesses to unlock customer insights and make faster, smarter, and more cost-effective decisions. Our platform enables customers to proactively improve data quality, intelligently discover key audiences, and seamlessly activate data across a wide range of channels.

We are responsible for building features to help customers find the right audience to target, visualize their customer journey to plan interventions and build scalable real-time and batch data pipelines along with an ecosystem of integrations that move data into and out of Amplitude and across our partner ecosystem. Today, this platform supports over 100+ integrations and processes over 800 petabytes of data per month and it's growing rapidly.

We're looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join our Activation team. In this role, someone who isn’t afraid to take on the challenges of building and evolving a highly-sophisticated, data-intensive enterprise product. As one of the core members of the engineering team, you will be responsible for building innovative interfaces and cross-cutting architectural improvements for our Activation Platform, enabling self-serving data connections, simplifying customer insights generation, and ensuring a seamlessly integrated user experience with other Amplitude products.

This isn’t a typical full-stack role. You’ll work across some of the hardest and most rewarding engineering challenges at Amplitude

  • Truly Full-Stack With Real Impact (70/30 Backend–UI)

    • You’ll design and build robust backend systems and infrastructure while also shaping intuitive, polished product experiences. This means architecting the pipelines that power data activation and crafting the interfaces that make them accessible to customers.
  • Complex, Data-Intensive Problem Space

    • You’ll work on high-throughput data movement, real-time processing, and scalable pipelines, paired with the challenge of helping users visualize customer journeys and create powerful workflows without friction.
  • Deep Product Collaboration

    • you’ll work hand-in-hand with product and design to evolve an enterprise platform used by some of the world’s biggest companies. You’ll influence cross-cutting architectural decisions and help shape the future of activation at Amplitude.
  • Massive Surface Area + Ownership

    • You’ll touch integrations, pipeline architecture, insights generation, interfaces, and user experience. Few roles let you impact both how data moves and how customers interact with it.

As a Full-stack Engineer, you will: 

  • Lead features, from ideation and implementation, through to launch.
  • Integrate with backend services and improve our API infrastructure built with Python, Java, Node, GraphQL and Postgres.
  • Develop new product features using TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Tailwind CSS.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product and design teams to iterate on our product.

You'll be a great addition to the team if you have:

  • Passion for driving customer value,  you think about how your work delivers value to customers.
  • Interest in customer interaction, iterating with customers to develop novel innovative products.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, maintainable code
  • Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, algorithms, and system design
  • Enthusiasm for working across frontend and backend technologies to take full ownership of the problem.

At a minimum, you need to have:

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or another technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience working as a full-stack engineer with a back-end focus.
  • Previous experience with backend development in Python/Java.
  • Previous experience with one or more JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.) is plus.
