About This Job

The Senior Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer builds, implements, and maintains the marketing technology solutions that power multi-channel customer engagement, personalization, and lifecycle marketing. Working within established platform architecture and governance standards, this role executes high-quality technical builds across Salesforce Marketing Cloud and the broader CRM ecosystem — customer journeys, automations, integrations, and data-driven personalization at scale.

The ideal candidate brings deep, hands-on technical expertise in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (or equivalent Adobe, HubSpot, or Braze platforms), strong problem-solving instincts, and sound technical judgment. This is a builder's role first, but one that expects independent thinking: identifying gaps, flagging risks, recommending improvements, and contributing informed technical perspective to the team's broader platform direction.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and deploy customer journeys, triggered communications, and lifecycle campaigns across Email, SMS, Push, Direct Mail, and other channels using Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, Mobile Studio, Audience Builder/Data Extensions, and Distributed Marketing
  • Develop and maintain integrations between Marketing Cloud, CRM systems (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud), data warehouses, APIs, and third-party vendors to support real-time marketing capabilities
  • Write and maintain AMPscript, SSJS, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to support personalization, dynamic content, and automation logic
  • Build and maintain audience segmentation and data models using SQL, ensuring data accuracy and scalability
  • Execute campaign and platform work in line with established governance standards, including subscriber management, consent management, data retention, and compliance with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CCPA
  • Troubleshoot platform issues, monitor deliverability and rendering quality, and resolve technical defects across marketing automation workflows
  • Partner with Marketing, Product, Data, Compliance, and Engineering teams to translate campaign and program requirements into working technical solutions
  • Identify and implement improvements to engagement, deliverability, and operational efficiency across owned platforms and workflows
  • Evaluate and pilot new platform features, tools, and integrations, providing hands-on technical assessment to inform roadmap decisions
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation of workflows, integrations, and technical processes
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to team coding standards and best practices
  • Flag scalability, security, or compliance risks in existing or proposed technical solutions

Mandatory Requirements

  • 6–8 years of experience in Marketing Technology, CRM, or Marketing Automation development roles
  • Advanced hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, Mobile Studio, Audience Builder/Data Extensions, and Distributed Marketing
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud
  • Proficiency in AMPscript, SSJS, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience designing and consuming REST/SOAP APIs
  • Strong SQL skills with experience building audience and data models
  • Understanding of email deliverability, rendering, and compliance best practices
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations, including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CCPA
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Marketing Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer for the majority of the workday
  • Occasional travel may be required for team or vendor meetings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CDPs, personalization platforms, or customer data orchestration tools
  • Experience with Marketing Cloud Intelligence, Tableau, Contentful, Segment, or similar tools
  • Experience in financial services, banking, fintech, or other regulated industries
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications (Administrator, Developer, Consultant)
